How much support do you need for your ministry? |
 |
| |
Im so glad you asked! Its not cheap to support
a ministry. Currently I am in the process of looking for additional
partners to support my ministry. Below you will see a thermometer
indicating my progress toward my current goal of $3000 in
monthly support.
|
 |
What
does all that support go to? |
 |
| |
A great question. A thought that might have gone into your
mind when you see that bottom figure is, Wow, missionaries
sure do get paid well! That goal is higher than my take home
pay! Yes it is higher than your pay, but it covers much
more than my salary. Check out the table below to see how
it breaks down.

Your
goals seem high. Why? |
 |
| |
When looking at the cost of an employee make sure you are
comparing "apples to apples." Most people are not
fully aware of what it costs their companies to keep them.
According to an article in the SBR Update (Small Business
Report),
| |
"Each
full-time, permanent employee added to the company payroll
add a sizable overhead expense far beyond annual salaries.
For example, the average cost of hiring a $25,000 per
year employee is over $4900...Most employers must tack
on an added 46% of the employee's salary to cover benefits
and payroll administration. The net result is that this
$25,000 new hire will cost the company approximately $43,000
in the first year. And this doesn't include the cost of
training or - more important - the cost of a hiring mistake."
"A recent U.S. Chamber of Commerce study revealed
that the average permanent employee cost an added 46.32%
over the employee's hourly rate." |
|
My support is comprised of salary, ministry expenses, automobile
expenses, benefits, Social Security and administrative overhead.
When you think of your salary, you may only be thinking about
what you get in your paycheck. You may not realize that your
employer may actually be paying an additional 46% to keep
you at your job.
Staff with Campus Crusade for Christ are responsible for raising
support to cover all
of our expenses. Many missions organizations supplement the
expenses of their missionaries. For instance, they may help
a missionary with housing costs.
