Nothing seemed to really
draw me except for what wasn't there. I visited several offices
in Orlando, but none seemed to be what I thought I was looking
for. There was one that peaked my interest, but there was
no one was there to talk to. They had moved their office out
to Fort Collins, Colorado for the summer to help out with
the national staff conference I would be attending after summer
project.
When
I arrived in Colorado I met with some of the leadership with
this team that eluded me in Florida. It seemed like a good
fit, I could develop my design skills and expand my knowledge
of computers. Over the next few months I considered becoming
a part of the Campus Media Team. The next spring I found myself
packing up all my belongings in a Ryder truck and driving
them to my new home in Orlando, Florida.
It's been over four years since I moved to Orlando and it's
been one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life.
It allows me to have an impact in college students lives like
I wanted to do when I first joined staff, continue to develop
my skills with computers and have an even greater impact than
I could ever hope to have on a single campus.
The
Campus Media Team creates tools to equip staff on college
campuses around the country. My role on the team has evolved
over the years to where it is now as the Design Systems Administrator.
It's difficult to describe concisely, but I'm responsible
for all the design machines on our team, investigating, evaluating
and implementing new technologies and helping out in nearly
every part of the team because of my broad knowledge of the
tools we use.
